Skyrocketing 17 places up the global rankings to 18th position, making it number 10 in Asia is Chinese company Taobao. A su bsidiary of Alibaba.com, and China’s answer to eBay, Taobao is the largest ecommerce platform in China and now ranks higher than Alibaba.com in brand value despite Alibaba.com doubling its own brand value, with Taobao’s brand value up 44% to US$53.3 billion. With e-commerce brands thriving in this ‘new normal’, it is unsurprising that Taobao with its online business model providing ease of access and convenience for consumers would do so well.
